Sex and Relationship Education (SRE)

Since September 2014, SRE is no longer a requirement in Primary schools .

However at Concord, we believe that an introduction to SRE in the Primary school lays the foundation for factual knowledge and the more explicit information required by young people in later years.

It helps develop the child’s skills in being able to apply information and creates opportunities for reflecting on attitudes and values that may affect their decisions and choices in later years.

In Years 3 and 4, the children learn about relationships, keeping healthy and safe.

In Years 5 and 6, the children learn about growing and changing, personal hygiene, relationships and the building of self-esteem.  We believe this prepares children for the changes at puberty - physically, emotionally and socially.
