Online Safety

Update April 2020 The recent closure of schools due to Covid-19, means that opportunities for children to play with and talk to family and friends are limited to online interactions. This will inevitably mean that children are spending more time online

Throughout this time we will be regularly updating this page with advice for families.  Please see the links and information sheets below.

We are committed to ensuring the safety of our pupils, this includes their use of modern technologies. As the Internet has grown, the issues have become broader, touching not only the PC, but mobile phones, tablet devices and gaming.

We cover Online Safety awareness throughout the curriculum, specifically in PSHE, SMSC and computing lessons.

We take the safety of our pupils and families seriously.  There are many reasons why young people decide not to talk about incidents, whether that is due to not wanting to talk face to face, lack of confidence, scared, peer pressure or scared in case someone sees them talking to or seen in the schools office but to name just a few.

As a result we have created our own SHARP System page which allows young people to report any incidents which occur within the school and local community anonymously and without fear.

Aside from the reporting tool SHARP delivers educational content to raise awareness on a wide range of subjects including: Bullying, Health, Community Issues, Weapons and Hate Crime.

The SHARP System promotes inclusion, safeguarding, online safety and provides additional opportunities for students to report their concerns.

Below are further resources for both parents & carers and children that highlight some of the issues related to online safety. We hope you find them useful.
